In my work I use all the techniques familiar to a visual artist: drawing, sculpturing, graphics, photography, mixed techniques etc. The subjects vary from landscapes to portraits.
Graphical painting is a painting technique I’ve developed myself. In it the tensions come from the relations between three-dimensional surfaces and the outlines.
Every piece is a unique oil painting though the results resemble graphical scetches.
The artworks created in this technique are about experiences of nature. One figure often used is the swan which assumes many meanings in the tales of different cultures and peoples. For us Finns the swan is extremely important.
The simplyfied imagery of my art stemms from the mythology of the Kalevala and certain similarities can also be found with primitive art. The simple elements of my paintings need no profound explanations; they are familiar to all ages and races around the world.
